The FAQ 202 is one of the more technologically ambitious at-home LED masks we've come across. It's wireless, remarkably lightweight, made from flexible silicone and uses eight wavelengths of LED light, including near-infrared. It's also firmly positioned at the luxury end of beauty technology.
So rather than tell you it's incredible because it's expensive, let's look at what actually makes the FAQ 202 different and who we think should spend the money.
What Is the FAQ 202 LED Mask?
The FAQ 202 is a flexible silicone LED face mask from FAQ Swiss, the beauty-tech brand associated with FOREO.
Unlike rigid LED masks, its soft silicone construction is designed to sit close to the contours of the face while allowing you to move around during treatment.
Inside are 600 optimized points of light, delivering eight wavelengths across the face:
Near-infrared (850 nm)
Red (650 nm)
Blue (465 nm)

So What Are You Actually Paying For?
This is where the FAQ 202 gets interesting.

A lot of the conversation around LED skincare centres on red and near-infrared light. FAQ 202 includes both, but also gives you six additional visible-light wavelengths.
Do you need eight colours? Not necessarily. But if you're investing in one device and want considerably more versatility than a basic red-light mask, that's part of the appeal.
600 Points of Light
The FAQ 202 uses 600 optimized points of light positioned across the mask for broad, even-looking coverage. And with LED, coverage matters. A spectacular-looking device isn't particularly useful if significant areas of the face aren't receiving light consistently.
That Flexible Silicone
This may actually be one of the FAQ 202's most underrated features. Rather than sitting rigidly in front of your face, the flexible silicone is designed to mould closely to facial contours.

Is FAQ 202 Better Than a Cheaper LED Mask?
Not automatically. And we're not going to tell you otherwise. There are excellent LED devices that cost considerably less. If your only priority is red and near-infrared light, you don't necessarily need eight wavelengths, app-controlled treatments or luxury-level design.

We'd put it on the shortlist if:
- You already know you'll use LED consistently.
- You want red + near-infrared but also like having additional light options.
- You hate bulky or rigid masks.
- You want to move around during treatments.
- You appreciate genuinely good beauty technology and are willing to pay for it.
And perhaps most importantly: You want one sophisticated LED device rather than buying something inexpensive now and upgrading six months later.
Who Should Probably Skip It?
If you're completely new to LED and aren't sure you'll stick with it, we'd hesitate. Same if you're primarily interested in one wavelength or one very specific concern.
There are less expensive ways to enter LED skincare. FAQ 202 makes the most sense when convenience, wearability, versatility and design matter enough to justify paying more for them.
How Often Do You Use the FAQ 202?
FAQ Swiss recommends treatments of approximately 5–15 minutes, 3–5 times per week. As with most beauty technology, consistency matters considerably more than doing one enthusiastic week of treatments and abandoning the device in a drawer.
Which brings us back to why we care about the wireless, flexible design. A device that's easy to incorporate into real life has a much better chance of actually becoming part of your routine.
The Smukke Verdict
Is the FAQ 202 inexpensive? Absolutely not.
Is it just an overpriced LED mask?
We don't think that's fair either.
You're paying for an unusually wearable design, eight wavelengths, 600 points of light, wireless operation and a level of versatility that goes well beyond a basic red-light device.
But we wouldn't recommend it to everyone. If you simply want to experiment with LED, start elsewhere. If you already believe in beauty technology, know you'll use it and want a device that feels genuinely sophisticated rather than clinical and cumbersome?
That's when FAQ 202 starts making a lot more sense.
